I am an artist based in Nambucca Heads, originally from Colombia. I stitch photographs and found materials, both organic and artificial, to create installations that reflect a process of deep observation into everyday, mundane subjects: an object, a word or a place, to talk about universal concepts.
I also use performance and text as I am interested in the use of various forms of language (verbal, corporeal, visual, embodied) to understand the full perception of our existence and the ways we create meaning. I enjoy the poetry that emerges from doing so and aim to create surreal and abstract installations that respond to place and the exploration of materials.
In this process I question notions of identity, and furthermore the idea of non-identity and the fluidity of identity as a spiritual journey and a way to feel part of something bigger. As well as a rejection towards categories and boxing narratives.
